Has anybody rebiult a tansmission?
I have a side shifter that I want to install in my '72. I decided to take on the project of rebiulding it myself (being influenced by the Pelican members)and save 150 bones for something else. So, I've got a few ? to ask. And from your experiences, I will be a bit more prepared for the unexpected.
How long did it take? What problems have you encountered? What parts did you replace? Any special tools required? Thanks |

The guy who rebuilt mine let me watch a little and some of the tips I got are:
Be sure you have a very clean environment to work in where you can lay everything out so you don't mix stuff up When taking the tranny apart there are paper gaskets that seperate the large halfs...be sure to note what color they are and how many, because you have to replace the exact number and color to get the alignment back to where it should be. And measure, measure, measure :P Good luck and let us know how it goes. Tony |
