The Porsche 914/6 GT Fire Engine

Hello to all.
Finally decided to join this fantastic forum. Everyone here seems very supportive, friendly, extremely passionate and well-versed in regards to my favorite little car (and I'm guessing yours, too) the 914 - 914/6.
I've been contemplating for months about building up a 914, but which route to take I wasn't sure.
Always a fan of classic era races- Monte Carlo Rallye, 24 hours of Le Mans, 1000km Nurburgring, Targa Florio et al, and those Signal Orange 914/6 GT's are so iconic, so that's the path I wanted to venture.

I then stumbled upon the history of 'S-Y 7715', one of the 3 Monte works GT's.
Not so much its actual racing history, but its service as an emergency fire engine and recce car at the 'Ring complete with hoses, pumps first-aid, extinguishers, flashing lights and Recaros!

What a brilliant little car, and yet their seems to be very little information I can attain.

The car was labeled the ONS R1. My goal realised. I want to build a replica of this car...
I have only been able to scour about a dozen or so images, all of them low quality period shots, and no real information as to what exact equipment it contained.

May i ask this fellowship of 914 lovers to pass on any and all information, history, photographs, specs, footage and whatnot and post here or email me about this li'l lifesaver, as well as any info if any recreation has been undertaken previously.

I will post the photos I already have to picque your interest,

kind regards,
Garth M

Great photos!

You might check with Glenn Stazak of the 914/6 GT registry...I don;t see this fire car on it. Also maybe Armando Serrano knows something about it? Google for links to their sites.

Oh, and check over on 914world.com too....

here are some infos from the DGVWPB

Recaro bought the car 1973 from Porsche and gave it to the ONS (race security organisation)
in the mid-70ies the twin plug engine got replaced with a 2.4 S engine
then the ONS sold the car to Joe Sutter from Swizerland

Wow. What a cool little car. I'd never heard of this car until just now. Seems I've got some reading to do. Thanks for sharing.

Still not much info floating around there.
For fun, I decided to make a modern interpretation out of a 997 on the game need for speed:undercover. Here it is...
