centre console questions

When I decided to repair my center console yesterday I found that, apart from not having the horizontal tray, the side pieces were held together with bits of wood. Can anyone let me know the exact dimensions of the top and bottom central metal brackets and also the horisontal vinyl covered wooden piece please.
Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

I don't have the console in front of me, but the width is the same as the center console center cushion, if you are looking for a quick reference.

Thanks for using the BBS!

The console on our 1974 had some wood pieces with very small screws on the inside to hold it together. Since ours is driven mostly by a 16 year old and will never be a concours car, I made new aluminum pieces to set the width and used black trim screws with the intergal washers from the outside. Sure is alot stronger now and you only see the screws if you look close. On ours the vertical guage panel goes in first and the horizontal section goes in last and has a step at the front to keep the guage panel on place. You might try a piece of thick cardboard and make a template with the appropriate holes for the shifter and heatre light and slot for the heater lever. When happy with the fit, make one from pine or something solid.
