Help!! With a 75 1.8

Okay, so my car has sat for about a year. she starts up, but I've never done anything else.

Today i go for a drive, but...

now my brake lights don't light up, AND my eyeballs (head lamps) don't raise -- but the lamps do come on.

Any suggestions? These things all worked when I parked it.

Clean your grounds, cleaning the contacts in the fuse box and replacing all the fuses can sometimes help believe it or not

Maybe a bad relay, either at the fuse block or under the hood relays for lights both places, have had them work after just pulling them out and putting them back

Thought your were shopping for a motor

If you had someone who could take it from here to there, I know a guy with several 1.8 motors

Are the 1.8s in good shape? I'd love his contact information -- I don't mind driving up and getting an engine. It's only a few hundred miles.

Thanks!!

I will call him tomorrow for details

You should make a wish list if you are going to do that, he has a bunch of stuff, or did, he was getting rid of a lot of things

Roy, or whatever your name was, Dude with dead 1.8 car, how is that?

Anyway, Jim has 2 2.0 liter motors, one he did the top end one(he works at Frank's here in Sacto, their 914 guy for about 15-20 years), so he has some more dough in that. Also has a 1.8. Don't know if he has any gear boxes left, but if you need something, there is a fair chance he would have it. The 1.8 and one of the 2.0 came out of pic and pull

PM me or reply here, if you are able
whoa, that was sort of trippy, only saw three threads there for a moment

Hi Tobra:

How much would he want for the 1.8? I'd come and pick it up.

He says $400 for the 1.8, he knows nothing about it other than it turns by hand, figures it came out of project car someone gave up on and sold to pick and pull

No tin or injection, long block
