need some relay board help
I have a '75 914 for which I've decided to build my own relay board using relays made by Painless Performance. I figure that it would be less expensive (the relays are a tad bit cheaper and I would be saving myself the expense of a new relay board) and it will probably be more reliable in the long run. I've mapped out the relay board's current flowpaths (using the drawing on the Pelican Parts website and my Haynes manual) and need somebody pull out a good relay board and a multimeter and verify that my map is correct. I'd use my relay board, but it's suspect at best and it's still in the car which is in storage several thousand miles away. Here's what I've got:
T-14 connector, pin 1: connects to T-12 connector pin #6 and T-4 connector pins #II & #IV T-14 connector, pin 2: connects to D+ connector for voltage regulator and to D+ connector for the alternator wiring harness T-14 connector, pin 3: connects to T-12 connector pin #2 T-14 connector, pin 4: connects to T-12 connector pin #4 T-14 connector, pin 5: connects to T-12 connector pin #1 T-14 connector, pin 6: connects to T-12 connector pin #3 T-14 connector, pin 7: connects to T-12 connector pin #5 T-14 connector, pin 8: connects to T-12 connector pin #9 (via 8A fuse), to T-12 connector pin #7, and to heater blower motor relay pin #86 T-14 connector, pin 9: connects to heater blower motor relay pin #85 T-14 connector, pin 10: connects to power supply relay pin #85 and to rear window defroster relay pin #86 T-14 connector, pin 11: connects to T-12 connector pin #10 T-14 connector, pin 12: connects to power supply relay pin #30 T-14 connector, pin 13: connects to fuel pump relay pin #87 and to T-12 connector pin #12 T-14 connector, pin 14: connects to 25A fuse and then to rear window defroster relay pin #30, to fuel pump relay pin #30 and to heater blower motor relay pin #30 T-4 connector, pin III: connects to fuel pump relay pin #85 T-4 connector, pin I: connects to fuel pump relay pin #86 and to power supply relay pin #87 alternator wiring harness connector, pin DF: connects to voltage regulator pin DF alternator wiring harness connector, pin D-: connects to voltage regulator pin D- rear window defroster relay, pin #85: rear window defroster connector for yellow/red wire rear window defroster relay, pin #87: rear window defroster connector for green wire I know this may take a little bit of wading to get through, but I would be very grateful if somebody would take a little bit of time to help me out. Thank you very much. |
I did not check your pin number to pin number for accuracy, but replacing the replay board is easily doable. Many race cars, including mine will replace everything with a multi-pin mil-spec plug so the engine and back half of the car can be un-plugged wasily. Additionally the original replay boards are getting old and are becoming unreliable especially in areas where the weather is bad. Just make sure to check it close, wait a day and check it again so there will not be any smoke.

Use this:
