I take it you hava a 911 2.4 engine,correct. If so,on 911 engines get the
car running with the engine warm. Then check the oil level while engine running.
Overfiling oil on a 911 will overflow every time. Make sure to clean up the oil
in the engine compartment.

911 6cyl w/factory oil tank.
no way to check cold level?

Assuming that you do have a 911 engine, the procedure to check the engine oil level is as follows. Warm the engine to operating level (about 175 deg F ). With the engine running and the car parked on level ground, check the level shown on the dipstick. It should read between the two marks. The difference between the upper and lower marks depends on the engine, but is usually about 2.5 litres or a little more than 2.5 quarts. This engine has a dry sump, which is why the level must be checked as described above. You cannot check the level as you would on an engine with a sump. And overfilling the oil tank is not a good idea.
Good luck with the car.

thank you

Nothing more to add to the above, but your car looks really sweet - congrats!

That's a really nice looking car.
It looks like you made the same mistake as I did when I got my 914-6. I had a nice oil slick running from my mechanics garage to mine. That was the last time I had someone unfamiliar with these cars touch my car.

I was not a huge fan of the 916 look until I saw your car - now I want one. It must be the flared fenders and the color. Are those side mirrors black? Are they stock mirrors that have been annodized - they look great with that color of car.

I was looking for more of a GT style car,but this one looks great, and the price was right.PO did no maintenance,so it needs work.
The mirror(all the britework)is painted black.
