Vitaloni Sebring mods
If you are like most that bought those great looking bulllet shaped Eye-talian mirrors for $215 for the pair only to find the most they give you is a fine view of the asphalt three lanes over, then read on.
What you need: One hour. Phillips head screw driver, dremel or similar fine grinding tool; a little patience so you don't break things. Remove the mirror from the base by removing the screw that runs horizontally thru the base and mirror sections. Turn the mirror section upside down. You will see two P-head screws. NOw turn the mirror so you can see your nose hairs in it (this prevents the glass from falling out when you remove the P head screws. Remove the screws. Now with your hand over the glass turn the mirror over so the glass falls into your hand.. If it does not use your fingers to gently pry out the glass. You will see that the glass is mounted onto a flange that slides into the base of the mirror housing. Move the glass around and you will see that there are two cups that determine the distance the glass will move. There-in lies the problem. There is not enough rotation in the main cup to allow the glass to move up and to the left (or right depending on which mirror you are working on). Remove the screw and spring. There is a cup that rotates on the round part of the glass assembly. Take your dremel and increase the radius of the hole in the cup. Kind of like cutting out one side of the hole in a donut. I increased the size of the hole on one side by about 30% but I did it in stages. If you make the donut too thin on one side and break the cup you are up the creek. I did this process several times till I got the mirror pointed exactly where I wanted. Replace the cup, spring and screw using a little white grease between the cup halves. Swivel the mirror around and note how much more rotation you have. Slide the flange into the slot inside the mirror housing assembly. replace the two P head screws. Attach the mirror to the car with just one screw and see if you now have enough adjustment. If not, repeat the procedure. (this is where patience comes in) Eventually you wil have plenty of rotation.
