Weber Carb Shaft Bushings
I have a set of Weber 40IDTP carbs. They have a small amount of play at the end of the shafts. I noticed that most of the Webers need the oversize shafts when there is play. The 40IDTP's use teflon bushings on the shafts. The teflon bushing strips are still available, part # 901 100 997 00 Bearing Shell (Teflon). Anyone know if replacing the teflon helps with a small amount of play , or do these usually need the oversize shafts? Except for the small amount of play, the carbs are in great shape.

Weber throttle shaft bushings
The nylon bearing displaces under load (which over time) allows throttle body and shaft wear. You can replace the nylon bearings (two in each throttle body) but since the shafts are worn the nylon displaces rapidly until you have metal-to-metal support. Reaming the throttle bodies for 8.5mm shafts and not re-reaming the counter-bores for new nylon seals will not allow re-insertion of the nylon bearings. Replacing the throttle shaft bushings provides good shaft support and sealing for the existing throttle shaft since the shaft is not severely worn where the nylon bearing is located.
