new turn signal?

my turn signal switch went south on my 1972 914 so i decided to replace it.
apparently it is no longer available.
i was able to find one at the junk yard out of a 1977 924.
this is good for now, but is there something on the
market that is new for next time?
thanks for the help,
chrispy

Try looking for VW parts from the '70s Dasher/Passat model line these may be more available. I know for certain the wiper switch assemblies were interchangable and looked the same...just slightly shorter in length. I used such a wiper switch to replace my stock '72 914 switch, enabling the use of an electric washer pump and a three speed wiper...so it's possible that the turn signal assembly was also interchangable???? (After all these cars were "VW Porsche"?) Hope this helps....
