Fuel system
I just bought a 2.4T engine with CIS injection for a 6 conversion for a 914 track car I am building. Obviously I am wanting to modify this engine to get more power out of it (probably S spec cams, etc) and the guy who is helping me said I need to ditch the CIS and go with carbs instead. It sounded good to me until I saw the price that 911 carbs are going for. Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative that will allow me to adjust the fuel system to maximize the power output?

I cannot help you with the $$ of a carb set up, but the CIS motor is tricky to put into a 914 w/o having to cut the trunk firewall. Wayne has some pictures of how this is done.
The cost of the carbs may be justified when considering the added expense/hassle of installing the CIS. However Carbs have their own set of problems. If you need help with the project let me know, I see you are in GA and I am in NC. |

Price wise, carbs are the baseline for a hi performance intake system. An MFI conversion is more pricey."Proven" aftermarket EFI systems priced as if made of gold.

Instead of looking for those "wonderful Webers" - you might look at the Zenith or Solex carbs - they are much cheaper. They don't offer the "tuneability" of a Weber, but they will work.
