Love those Dead Beat sellers!!

I have been talking to this guy who is selling a 2.0L 914 engine. (914 Parts board) This guy knows I wanted it and I have been getting shipping and payment arrangments worked out with him. Not too much I can do on Sunday.

What does this guy do.. Selles the engine to someone else today. What the F&%$ is that. Talking about pissing someone off! Every now-and-then you get a bum like this selling parts off to pay the phone bill.
If you don't have your word, you don't have much!! This is something I would never do a fellow 914'er, just not my style.

Sorry for the vent!

Burns me too.

So far I have batted 1000 as far as purchases go. But haven't sold a thing yet. Must be doing something wrong. Get all the way to an agreed price and supply shipping data, the works and then never here back from the guy. If I would know that he found a part though other sources Cool just be kind enough to let me know. Who knows I would have even lowered my prices if asked. Oh well end of my RANT too. Thanks VA914 for the oprutunity to vent. Hey need some cheap parts? he he

As someone who buys and sells, my only response is.....did you get a firm commitment from the seller? If not, or if you didn't have a downpayment, the engine is fair game to the first one with cash......

This is where paypal or some other type of escrow payment comes in handy. Instant transference of funds and some protection.....just MY experience....

What exactly are YOU looking for? Maybe I can help....

I have found that PayPal helps to separate the BS from the real deal. It is extremely convenient too, well worth the fee IMHO.

If somebody can't deliver payment (buyer) or goods (seller) within a couple of days, forget it, and move on to the next lead.

VA914... That was probably the same guy trying to sell me Dell's. I emailed him back asking where he wanted the Cashier's check mailed to and he said he had sold the engine this morning. Kinda sucked!!! I thought I had some 40's to start playing with. Oh well Anybody out here have some???

Talking

Hey VA914,

I've got "2" 2.0L and "1" 1.7L/ 1.8L (not sure which) short blocks with the flywheels if you're interested. One (2.0L) is still in the car and ran O.K. when I parked it in June (dangerously cancered chassis) to make it a parts car. The other I pulled out of a wrecked 914 for the heads. It sustained a small fuel fire which pretty much wiped out anything rubber, but mechanically it's fine. Not real sure of the mileage on either, but still a good starting point. If interested, e-mail me.

'73 soon to be!
'75 too rusty to drive!
