help with identifying unplugged wires on 1972 1.7
I am working on restoring a 72 1.7 and have come across two unplugged wires and have no idea where they go. Furthermore, I can't find any place that looks like they belong.
The first wiring harness that I can't determine where it attaches comes out of the engine wiring harness and was laying near the rear firewall on the driver's side. The second set of wires is in the front firewall next to the brake fluid reservoir. It comes out of the wiring harness that is going through the firewall. Is it possible that these are just spare wires that don't go to anything?? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1273974395.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1273974440.jpg |
1st picture brown and green wires are for the blower motor mounted in the engine

Just a WAG on the second picture they may be the wires going to the master brake cylinder brake switch.

Thanks for the answer! I already have the two wires going to the blower motor located (I took it out for cleaning/painting). But, I think that an aftermarket switch was installed to replace the OEM blower switch that went bad. I guess that would make sense as to why there would be an extra set of wires going to it.
Thanks for the hep! |
What year is your teener? Mine is a '75. I just looked around that area (the blower fan and gas tank are out of the car) but could not find a similar wire configuration. My wire to the master cylinder (brake light switch) is a single brown wire. I have a colored wires diagram so I can do a little research but it would be helpful if you can let me know the year of your car.

Sorry, did not pay attention to the beginning of your post - since yours is a '72 I've attached a jpg of the wiring diagram. Notice items (in round circles) 21, 32, & 34 at top center of diagram. They all have the "brown/white spiral" wire. According to the legend, 21=fuel gauge, 32=brake light warning switch, 34=parking brake contact. Sorry the jpg file required by this forum messes with the resolution. If you PM me with your email I will send you the pdf version. It's much better clarity.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1274126732.jpg
