Can any one help me find a pair of rain shields or hats for my dual Weber 40's for my 1.7L?
The former owner warned me about covering the air cleaners in case it rains. I am getting tired of putting on and off the plastic bags. Any good advice out there? Thanks, M. Ian McCloskey Arlington VA |

A friend of my used two aluminum baking loaf pans, upside down screwed to the filter top bolts. Seemed to work but, I am
not necessarily recommending it. Looks kind of hokey. If you use the stock rain tray, you shouldn't need covers anyway. Phil |

If you are worried about getting rain water in the carbs why wouldn't you be worried about geting water in the rest of your engine. The stock rain tray seems to work very nicely even in the Mississippi down pours.

You should be using air cleaners on you Webers.
Try http://www.cbperformance.com/ They have lots of Weber air filters, etc. Dan |

rain covers
baking work great & will stay on in racing (btdt); DON"t EVER leave the carbs uncovered in the rain or you wil have cyls full of water & almost certain destruction of engine

Your rain tray should fit with carbs and air cleaners.
Nothin better than the stock idea to keep rain out. Kelly |

I ran in the rain with baking loaf pans this summer. Yes, they look a little cheap (because they are at $3.00 a pair), but they work. I figure that the amount of time I will drive the car in the rain is so few that the layout for the proper shields wasn't worth it.
That's my $.02 or less
