Where do you find Dry Ice for tar board removal?

I was wandering around again and I read up on this thread:

In it, there is a post about using Dry Ice to remove tar board material from the floor pan.

Where can you buy Dry Ice?

When I've neeeeded dry ice ,there is a company that sells it to verious business in our area. Try your local yellow pages, or if your know a business that usesit just ask them. Maybe a Baskin Robinson,or other Ice Cream store. Dave

Buy a 12.00$ heat gun from harbor freight and a nice 4 inch wide puddy knife.

Turn heat on a area and start scraping.

I had some contractors at work last week who were given the task of removing tile from very large offices. They mentioned using liquid nitrogen to break the adhesion of 30 year old glue and this method worked faster and with less mess than the torch they used to have. This might be worth looking in to especially if you can rent what you need vs. buying it. This method should also get into hard to reach places vs. a scraper or dry ice.

Dry ice: yesterday, I noticed my local grocery store (Bi-Lo) had dry ice for sale in a special cooler up front.

Dry Ice? I thought you can get it at a Hunting Store. Hunters use it for when they kill small, poor defensless animals for SPORT!. That way the meat doesn't rot before they get back to their pick ups.

You can get or order it at QFC, maybe even organic dry ice at PCC.

IME the stuff comes up with just a putty knife. It takes some effort, but I never had to use a heat gun, dry ice, or chemicals.

BTW - B, you must be including the firewall pads? The floor tar itself on my car was only 12lbs or so. The inner firewall pad is a heavy mother though.

I am collecting the stuff in a bag so I can weigh it when done.

Depending on where you live and if there is such a thing, Kroger, the grocery store, has it in freezers next to the frozen food freezers.

I followed Brad's idea. hehe, bought a heat gun from harbor freight, and works very well. note to user, don't leave it on by accident and put it on the floor and have it melt the handle off your screwdriver.

Dry ice sounds like something that Tim Taylor would use to remove the tar. Just get a big tub of it and use your Bobcat and drop a ton of that onto the chassis.

Dry ice can be purchased from many locations. A few listed on this dry ice website are:

• Walmart
• Meijer
• Ice cream shops
• Grocery stores (even some krogers)
• Some local convenience stores

May be a spammer, but it's useful info anyway. I've been thinking of using the dry ice trick for some paintless dent repair.
