parking brake removal help
914er's, how's it going?
What's the easiest way to remove the e-brake handle? I got a 73' thats rusted and won't move. I sprayed WD40 for the last week, I also tapped it w/ a hammer, any suggestions, tips, tricks... on how to remove it? TIA!!! [This message has been edited by John Nguyen (edited 04-14-99).] |

PB Blaster.
Heat. Bigger hammer. Repeat. Also try a ball joint removal tool, looks like a tuning fork on the end of a crow bar. Of coarse if it is that rusted it may just break off, this happened to my friends 75 when he went to set the e-brake on day. It just came off in his hand, so use some common sense. |

I had to remove ours as the ratchet mechanism wore out. I used a Dremel tool with a small diamond wheel and lots of care and cut off the pivot pin. You might want to remove the seat first so you have plenty of room to work in.
