Speaking of thermostat bellows . . .
I'm just finishing the rebuild of my 1.7l & am preparing to install the thermostat bellows. The unit is fairly dirty & I'd like to clean it up before installation, but I'm not sure what material it's made out of (or are they all made out of dirt?) or how I should clean it. Any suggestions?

most are brass with leaded seams...
