what this i hear about using 914 front calipers on the rear??

i heard somwhere that 914 front calipers can bolt right onto the rear, but ill get no parking brake. is this true??

cuz i upgraded to bmw 320i's in the front, and my old stock calipers are just sitting around.

it might be nice to have even better brakes. i dont need a parking brake anyways, slouth florida is flat as it gets. and i put the car in 1st when i park to keep it from rolling, my parking brake never worked anyways.

so if it will work, please tell me, im getting stainless lines too :0

You can use the fronts on the rear or you can use the same BMW calipers as you have on the front. If you use the BMW calipers you do not have to machine them (if you did on the front). In either case you lose the p-brake. Some will say it is not good to have same sized calipers front and rear but they work very well on my race car and are about as big as you can go without changing the rotors to vented 911 type and 5 bolt wheels. Good luck.

I just got through with putting the fronts on the rear. If I remember correctly, you have to shim the caliper by about .250 to .500. I added washers between the caliper and the and the control arm. The only hard thing is making the 90 degree bend in the hard brake line to clear the control arm. I stuck some 10 or 12 guage wire in the tune prior to bending it to keep it from kinking. Good luck and if you have any questions let me know and I will take some pictures for you. BTW I am in central Fla

Yes, you can.

I actually put 911 caliper spacers in mine (with longer bolts and proper O rings). I also put vented rotors on my rear and thus run these 914 front calipers on my rear with the big rotors too......
