Steering creaks

I've been getting alot of noise out of the steering area of my 73 914. Basically it creaks when you turn the steering wheel. Does it both sides but more when the car is moving slowly (probably because you can turn the wheel more when you are sitting still without ending up in a ditch). The tie rods are new on both sides but I haven't replace anything else and the rack boots are intact. Is there something I should coat with grease or could the problem be deeper...

I agree, the inners bushings may be the culprit. While the tie rod ends may have looked blown out and cracked, most of the 'slop' in the steering actually comes from those inner bushings. Turbo tie rods eliminate the bushings with a 'ball-and-socket' joint.

I love mine!
