Free Advice

Considering buying a 1973 914 in good shape, 2 owners, real nice interior and the engine looks and runs very good. 100+ miles. My concern is the rust on the walls in the engine BEHIND the insulation. Battery tray is fine but there is rust on the wall. Is this a deal killer? FYI - first time 914 buyer.

Not a deal killer, but definitely something to address! The insulation does trap water, which inevitably leads to rust. It is an indication that you should look more closely at the suspension pickup points and the longitudinal members of the car, though.
