A/C and Engine Drop Question
Doing 1st 914 engine drop on 75 2.0. I want to update compressor from york to denso style. Can I recover R12 and disconnect compressor after drop? or recover R12, disconnect lines prior to drop? Can compressor be left in place during drop?

found answer after further digging, thanks anyway.

Take pictures please. I need to do the exact same thing on my 2.0

will do, if I ever get started. Finishing patio cover first.

You will have to break the lines somewhere, or (more likely I think) unbolt the compressor and leave it in the engine bay when you drop the motor.
If you want to upgrade, you'll probably want to replace the old leaky hoses with modern barrier hose. And you'll want to replace the dryer any time you have it open to air. And rubber seals don't like to go from one refrigerant to the other, so if there are any other rubber bits you should replace them too.... --DD |
