trunk alignment
 

I made the mistake of trying to close my trunk by pushing down on the side/corner. Now the trunk is mis-aligned, with one side lifted approx. 2 inches higher, and it won't close. None of the brackets are loose or broken. It just seems to be flexed/twisted. I remember a forum on this problem. Anyone know the tips on re-alignment of the trunk? Thanks... Darrell

If it's the rear trunk, check the nylon rollers on the torsion bars that hold it up. They break sometimes and can cause the front lip to rise up. You'll see them when you pop the engine lid.

Also check the nuts and brackets that secure the torsion bars to the engine bay. Maybe one of the studs are rusted and stripped out?

Really I would suppose that it would be the rollers or a broke hinge first.

Most likely it is a brooken hinge bracket. This is very common as most people don't know to oil the hinge bolt, it rusts, and breaks the hinge bracket where it attaches to the inner fender. This requires a new bracket to be welded after the old is cut off and the new 'properly' fitted. My car has the same problem, but I'll wait until I get the fender flares.
