Question how much should i sell my motor for?

so its the middle of february and i haven't touched my 914 in a few months. i'm kinda torn, and i'm debating that if i part mine out and salvage the good parts to other people, that i could get a similar condition 914 with a more-solid body. it hurts to say that i want to get rid of my 914..... but there's a lot i can sell from it.... like almost all the original carpet =p the seats/console could use a re-covering, but other than 2 cracks in teh dash... the rest of the car is original and waiting to be used.... but the motor is an original FI 2.0L from 1976. it runs, and everything is there. needs vacume hoses, and new sheet metal.
if it were just my brakes and new paint, i'd keep the car.... but i don't want to half-ass a resto and end up needing to replace my whole bonnet years down the road....

but anyways.... i saw a 2.0l no tranny go on ebay for $850. it had been rebuilt thought before, but was used. mine has i think 45K original miles on it. the wire harness is good, the brain is good. should i sell the harness and brain with it? if so at what cost? what about including my tranny too?

also has anyone ever shipped something liek a motor or tranny? whos the cheapest/best company to ship with?

and if anyone wants to make me an offer, or toss out numbers... feel free to email me... it'll be a week or few before i actually get around to dropping the motor if i decide to do it... but it seems like my only option right now....

BUY YOUR NEXT 914 FIRST

I would look for a california car. Slightly more expensive but the absense of major rust will be worth it.
You might find that selling your stuff first is going to bite you. When you get a new car as the next one might need the very same part you just sold.

Budgets suck

I hate being on a budget. You should try keeping a 928 and 914.
Guess that is why I work two jobs. and do all my own maintenance. I am going to college too! Hmm where do I find the time to chat on this darn computor. ????????? Beats me.

How about some pics to see if the rust is really that bad to justify parting out the car?

I always hate to see cars torn up that have a chance at life.
