Two questions.....

I was just checking out the swapmeet pictures that Wayne posted at the top of the BB. Question #1: Can anyone I.D. the Red car on the 2nd page, 3rd and 4th rows down. Definitely a 914 interior, but what body (rebody)? Question #2: This is for the SoCal guy's. I'm going to be in the San Diego (Escondido) area in the middle of June for a friends wedding. Please tell me that there'll be some kind of "swap meet", or Porsche type event to attend at that time. It's been 18 years since I lived in S.D., and It'll probably be quite awhile before I'll have a chance like this again. Hell, I'm willing to drive 100 miles or so in my rental to see some 914's!

Well, even if there isn't anything going on in June, it'll still be great to see the Pacific.

And I don't mean "Pacific, MO" :-)

Been Awhile

But I would think that the local swaps ie. Kobey's, Santee, Spring Valley.
You may just look at some of the locations of where people live on this site. I know of a few senior members that live in Chula Vista.
I am contemplating a vacation in May to San Diego. Mostly for fishing. (3 B's) Bass, Bonito, Barracuda

Only partly a 914 interior--while the parts seem 914-based, the center console and seats are not standard 914 fare. Someone obviously spent a lot of time on that car...

I wish there was a side view available, that would make it easier to ID. But it looks like some kind of Ferrari Dino kit. I've heard of (and I think seen photos of) that before, you occasionally see them on Evil-bay.

Definitely correct on the console Dave, but that dash looks awfully familiar, actually, I'd like to get mine redone in that color. It'd look great with the "Arena Red Metallic" paint job my '73 will (hopefully) soon be sporting.

There are a couple of half-ass side views of that red rebody, and it does have a Ferrari look to it, wonder if there's anything special under the hood?

Hey Joe,

Just noticed on your profile that you're a Navy man, Enlisted?

I was stationed for 4 wonderful years a NAS Miramar in San Diego, and lived off base in a town called Poway, loved it!!

Check out our PCA website http://www.pcasdr.org/ and there are several events in mid June. The DE event is high speed driving w/passing. Also check out HSR West and there is a 3 day vintage race festival at the CA Speedway in Fontana on 6-21 to 6-23 and we plan to have our 914 there.

That guy was at the last Irwindale DE/autocross. I asked him about his car. It is a 914 based Ferrari kit car, and the owner is very proud of it, even to the point of saying that "IT IS NOT A 914!". According to the "expert" it is a one off and he has the molds so no one can duplicate his work of art. The car is nice, but that's the only positive thing I can say about the subject.

Thanks for the info John, I'll be checking out that site as the departure date gets closer.

Sam, are you suggesting the the owner of the "NOT A 914" Ferrari "Wish it was" is a "one off" as well? I hear painting without a respirator can do that to you :-)
