71 oil bath air fliter conversion to 73 dry filter question

Id like to convert my 71 oil bath to a 73 dry filter, I understand that it is a staight bolt over, but will this effect my sensors or other things? Can I modify my oil bath top into a dry by removing out the center piece to the top half? finaly does anyone have a 73 dry air filter?
