What would you pay for this '74

I'm going to look at this car tomorrow and I'm not expecting much. The pictures the owner has shown me show what I think is considerable rust. Not looking to restore it, just putz around town in. Note the corrosion under the sail panel vinyl. It's a 1.8 with fuel injection and interior is very nice with center console, runs and drives fine. Rear passenger quarter panel is primer.

Too far gone. RUN, run fast... Keep looking. Thats a $500 car at the most (California price). You will sink $10k fixing the rust unless you do it yourself.

Thanks for the respnses. I had many of the same thoughts going through my head. I owned a '74 914 6 years back and have missed it ever since... I'm desperate to get back into the game but the midwest doesn't offer a lot. I guess I'll sit back and see what else shows up on the market, I hate waiting...

Amen to that, I've been watching CL and ebay and the forums and teeners have gone from rare in the mw to practically non-existent. The ones that are left are over-rusted and over-priced. If I were in Nevada I'd be seriously considering a road trip to the coast. Good luck.

I would recommend posting a WTB ad here , the World.com, and 914Club.com boards. A lot of people look at these and either have considered selling a decent 914 or know when one may be for sale. From my experience, there are good 914's stored away in garages that we rarely hear about or see. Good luck, be patient; the right car will appear.
