Part price check
Price for a rear trunk lid with surface rust? Nothing is through the sheetmetal.
Thanks Kerry:D |
The last one I bought turned out to have rust thru on the pinch weld area next the latch. I was suckered for 125.00 (gee I hate to admit that!)It was still nicer than the one that was on the car. Then I bought whole cars for $75.00 You just never know. How much do they want?

I can't say that you'll get much. I offered my lid up to the first reasonable offer and got no takers. The hard part is shipping. It's too big for UPS and too costly for trucking companies. I did manage to ship one Via Yellow freight at a cost of $50 and that was with a substantial comersial discount that the buyer recieved. Now, I'll be happy to just give away my stock lids one I get the 'glass pieces.

I may have found one for $75 and it's only 1.5 hrs away. That seems like it is in the price range. :)
The one I have now is all rusted out by the tunk latch. The foam inside the lid is all expanded and in bad shape. :( I was also thinking about taking some of the support from the rusted one and adding it to the new one. I think it would strengthen the lid up alot. I have not done much with the idea yet, but maybe in the next couple of weeks well see. Thanks guys |
If you for a rust free lid in driving distance go get it. the repair is a pain in the axe.

Maybe I got lucky, but I bought a rust free front lid for $25.00 last year that the Pomona swap meet.

I’d give mine away to a good home if someone would come pick it up (my wife would be so proud to hear me say that:)). There just aren’t too many 914 owners here in Milwaukee, and I don’t want to hassle with shipping it.
