Steering Questions

Hey I'm a newbie to the 914 scene. I was given one by someone who came up short on a debt. It's probably a parts car and shouldbe trashed but I like working on it.

Anyways my first question of many for you guys is about my steering. Sometimes not always my front end shakes violently while driving. What Parts do I need to replace or tighten to stop this.

A good start would be checking the wheel balance and alignment. Also check all the front end bushings.

Also check wheel bearings and inner tie rod bushings.

does you car seem to be severly lowered in front?does this shaking occur when you cross some thing like rr tracks or when you are driving down a smooth road ? you might be expriencing bump steer. when it happens is a important diag tool.

it does seem to be caused by uneven road surfaces or something. I've checked the wheels and the alignment. Whats this bumb steer.
