Transmission ground strap

Hi - I have recently acquired a 1974 Porsche 914 2.0L and have noticed a slowness when cranking. It doesn't fail to start but sounds as if the battery is going down; upon testing the battery and seeing that it is ok I started thinking perhaps the transmission ground strap could be frayed or broken. Uh, it doesn't seem to be there at all! I know I'm fairly
inexperienced with these cars but isn't it supposed to be on top of the transaxle and attached to the floor of the trunk area? I looked on both sides and saw nothing that looked like a ground strap... I guess I should not be shocked but I am kind of amazed that it's missing! Can I install it onto any bolt on the top of the tranny? I am having issues finding good pictures of how it's installed; a little help please!! Thanks

The ground strap goes between one of the top rear transmission cover nuts and a stud welded into the underside of the trunk. The provision should still be there; it is just a stud with a brass base; It takes a M8 1.25 nut. You can get a generic ground strap from any auto parts store.
