Rayco Body Kit, Pics?

I have searched the archives here for information on body kits for the 914. It seems that everyone likes the Rayco Body Kit. Does anyone have any pictures of this kit? I was unable to find any information on the web other than this page:
http://members.sunline.net/snowby/Wishful%20Thinking.html

and i was unable to locate a website for Rayco. Are they still producing the kit?

Any response is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I never noticed it before but that Rayco kit is trying to make the 914 front and sides look like the Boxter show car. I haven't seen a web site for them or anything though, sorry. I personally like the stock look, maybe w/ some of those Ghia specialties custom flairs

I HATE body kits - but I LOVE that Better Bodies car. Very pretty.

Oh I forgot one thing. You will notice on the first pic that I have stock wheel sizes on it. They were replaced with 245X45X16Z wheels. Since the kit makes your car 8" wider, you will need some big meats to make the lines flow.

nutzforporsche,

I like the look! Evenin primer your car looks great. The Better-Bodies one isnt bad either. I am trying to finish my 911 project in this next year. If things go well, i am hoping to buy a straight 914 before too long. I am just researching different looks for the 914. I was originally gonna try to build a 914-6 with GT flares...

If you have any more pics or information, i would truly appreciate it.

Thanks for posting the pics!

I know that the 904 kits look kind of neat, but I heard through the grapevine that some of these kits are cheaply made. The Rayco kit is thick " quarter inch or so" and in IMHO very well made.
It is a job to get them on "lots of metal cutting", so be ready for some work.

I had an '84 Mazda RX-7 that looked just like that Aero 994 kit.

I decided to keep my 914 and sold the Mazda ...

Kemo,
Sorry for the delay in getting the contact info. It is in my office at home and I'm still looking for it. I think this has something to do with CRS.

These days, I spend a lot time thinking about the hereafter,...
I go somewhere to get something and then wonder what I'm there after.

Hang in there!

Is that sweet or what!. I really dig the boxster wrap-a-round look with the tail lights. The front seems to share some of the 959 vents down on the fender area. Maybe I'll do some mods before I have the paint done. I like the vent look on the front, but it doesn't look functional. The wheels are sharp. I wonder who makes those babies?

I know I'm abrasive to the purists, but what would these cars have looked like, if Porsche would have let them evolve. Some I've heard say the Boxster is that. Too bad they haven't created a new 914 line. Maybe one day........If they do I'll buy,..I'll buy I tell ya!

The silver car at the 2nd URL was located in Dallas about a year ago.

These kits are like a comb-over. Hey if your bald your bald...deal

Nutz -- your car is however, is the exception to the rule, it's a very well done toupe.

Love to see it in person one day. You did an outstanding job

INFO FOUND!

I Finally found the info. Where was it? Was it lost?! Of course not! It was in the last place I left it.... DOH!

Complete Body Kit : $1475.00
Rear spoilers : $175.00 - $225.00 ( with kit purchase )
Average freight cost : $180.00 (class #250, 110lbs)
Min deposit : $400.00 (Mastercard and Visa accepted)

Delivery time average three to five weeks on a complete conversion "The kit is handmade so it takes a little while"

The kit includes
Bumbers, fenders, side rockers, quarter panels and sail panel/rollbar area.

914 Appearance Group from Rayco
a division of raycomtex

1710 Delmar
St.Louis, MO 63103

314.621.1321 (Office)

314.741.7818 (Home)

They have two spoiler types. The one on mine is the 225.00 model. The other is almost like it, the difference is, the back is one inch taller and the front four inchs lower.

The company no longer has a website, not sure why either?

Thanks Sacook It was a labor of love.

I hope to get the new paint job finished this coming spring. I will buy another teener and leave it stock, I promise. If you would have seen this car and the condition it was in before the kit. A well placed round between the running lights, would have been an act of mercy. Has it cost me a small fortune? Sure...., but this one is still on the road and will continue to do so. It may look different, but it is all teener underneath. I look at it as a facelift for a old trophy wife....LOL

You betcha I'll be there. I wouldn't miss it for the world. I only hope to have the car done and presentable.

In this part of the country, nothing occurs for us and our cars. Steetrod capital of the U.S it is, but nothing for the Porsche 914 enthusiast. So this is a rare treat.

The Calif fellas have it made! Great weather, beeeutiful babes, curvy nosebleed roads and teeners out the ying yang!
What do we get ? Clouds, Cows and corn feed gals. LOL

repaint completed

Well all, just thought that I'd post one pic of the repaint. The color is a basecoat /clearcoat Spectrum Red (81 Corvette color). Looks just like liquid blood LOL. I love the color and it was only 1800.00 for the paint job. The body work was 978.00. I'm very pleased.... Hope to have it finished for the Good Guys nationals here in Columbus soon and Barber Daves meet in August. Let the reassembly begin!
