Round Relays
Are the round relays still pretty easy to get? I tried to get one from a Porsche Dealer and they couldn't help me. I'd sure like to carry some spares or horde some if they are rare.

Your Porsche dealer couldn't get the ubiquitous round Wehrle relay??? You must be kidding! There are millions of those things roaming around in various p-cars including virtually every 911 ever made (at least up to the 90's, I don't know much about those).
Hint...I betcha the site you're reading this on can supply them...

4 years ago, I handed a non-functional round relay to a Porsche parts manager. 'Nope. Try next door'. Next door was a Volkswagen dealership. 'Nope, I haven't seen one of these in years.'. So I formed an impression that they were rare. At that time a had a small stash of them so I didn't really worry about it.
I saw that PP was selling them. That wasn't the question. If they are on 911's, as you say, then one could assume that they will be available for some time to come. Unless, of course, they are being used in modern production cars. In that event we have nothing to concern us, eh? I think I'll buy some spares and carry them with me. The ones I had were 26 years old. |
