I have recently replaced the plugs/wires, condenser, points. My idl seemed to increase from 800rpm to about 1500rpm. I am not quite sure how to fine tune the idle on a 2.0 FI? I have noticed that screw on the throttle body but it's all the way tight. Any help guys would be great.

Check for:
1. Timing too advanced (set timing to factory recommendation) 2. Idle mixture too rich (turn knob on top of FI brain a couple of clicks counter-clockwise to lean) 3. Vacuum leaks (bottom of throttle body, plenum to four distribution tubes, etc.) 4. Crud under the idle speed control screw on the TB preventing it from seating properly |

You probably unplugged the cold start valve air hose. Look to see if the hose is connected to the valve at the cold start valve or at the cold start injector. Air leaks here will raise the idle.

Flattering me will get me nowhere.
BTSIDI (been there, seen it, done it) Can you imaging the dude at Jiffy Lube changing your oil and then checking the airbox and unplugging half of your vacuum hoses? He'd be paying for a Porsch mechanic to re-route everything. Consider new hoses or at least tie wraps if the hoses come off that easily. Check all vacuum hoses, especially the ones for the distributor and MPS. joe |
