				Front truck floor panel available?

My '73 914 had a/c installed by the dealer and I have removed the piece (condensor....I think) from the front truck which has left me with a large hole that needs to be filled. I want this to be done correctly and get the floor looking as close to stock as possible.

This section of floor cannot be replaced by just a flat piece of material due to the various dips and channels in the flooring and I want to stay away from any type of fillers (bondo) to fill the gaps after welding. I'm wondering if this piece of flooring/metal is available anywhere? I've checked a few places that sell replacement panels and have not found what I'm looking for. If anyone has this piece (even from a parts car) I'd be interested in buying it......or a source of new flooring. Regards, John |

Find one in a junk yard, uhhh I'm sorry, an automotive recycling establishment and have them cut it out with a little extra for fittment. Then have it welded in.

You might want to check with Glenn Sager, a914lvr@earthlink.net , as he has several "organ donors" on his property (located in San Bernardino, CA).

Chuck..........I checked out the link you mentioned but did not see the section of flooring that I need. They did have front and back sections of the floor pan for interior as well as trunk. I'll give them a call and see if its available but just not shown on their website.

Ron......can't find any 914s in my local junkyards and your idea is my preference. Maybe someone reading here will have a donor and willing to sell the piece. Thanks, John |

I called OTTO's in CA today and they have some donor cars. They are going to get back to me with a price. Hopefully it won't be too much as I need suspension parts and tires too! In my car there is rust where the A-arm attaches to the panel. It isn't major at this point, but I want it fixed before it becomes a big problem, say at 90mph. I was talking the folks at restoration design today. They have been getting calls about this part for the 914; apparently they have this part for the 911 but not the 914. Chuck 74 914

I recently bought one of Patrick Motorsports parts cars and he gave me an original front trunk floor panel that he had cut out of another car.

I think he cuts the floors out when he does his conversions. Anyways he may have others - worth a call! http://www.patrickmotorsports.com |
