not sure about PCA but I believe the Hoosier Auto Crossers were legal for SCCA stock class as they used to have the DOT approved on was VERY small but it was on their .
Things could have changed since I sold my Auto X CSP 914 a few years ago and have been out of it for awhile .

The different PCA Zones have different rule sets across the country, so chances are pretty decent that other areas will have different tire rules.

I suggest bopping over to and looking at the treadwear ratings of their "Ultra High Performance", "Max Performance", and even "Competition" tires. The Yoko A032 just might have a 100 rating, but I think it's less. Kumho 712s are supposed to be very good for hard-compound street tires. Bridgestone S03's ditto. Those are supposedly available in the small sizes used by our 914s--many of the really aggressive tires start with 17" rims nowadays...
