Sun Visors
Has anyone ever looked into having the driver and passenger side sun visors remanufactured?
I wonder if enough people showed interest, if a company that makes visors would be willing to remanufacture some new ones, including the mirror and flap on the passenger side? Thanks, Karl Ellzey |

I'd say the cost would be prohibitive.. remanufacturing would require a huge quantity for the businessman to break even in such a venture. And getting 914 owners across the country to send their sun visors at the same time for the manufacturing run would be an impossiblity.
On the other hand, my visors are sagging a bit. I've had this done on a previous car ...simply take them to an auto upholsterer. They can rip out the seams, restuff if necessary, and then refit the original or replacement material to the visor at a cost far lower than that remanufacturer would have to charge. |

I guess I was unclear. A couple people have e-mailed me about new ones for sale.
My point is, is that the few remaining new ones cost way too much, if you can find them. My ideas wasn't to repair people's current visors, but to have totally new ones made. I don't think the tooling would be as intensive as say, a new set of steel fender flares. But maybe I'm way off base. Regards, Karl Ellzey |
