FI wiring harness

Cleaning up a 2.0L motor...

Any suggestions for refurbishing the FI wiring harness?
It is in good shape overall, but I would like to clean off the baked-on dirt, grease, old paint, etc. without damaging the already brittle outer insulation. Even better, is there any way to "soften" the old insulation?

On a simillar topic, I could sure use some injector boots (2-pin) and MPS / TPS boots (4-pin). Anybody have or know where to get?

The FI harness can be cleaned up with a good degreaser...Simple Green or similar, but it can't be softened without damaging the harness. The plastic is heat damaged over many years of engine heat exposure.

Just be really careful when working with the harness. These wiring looms are old and brittle and further damage is easy to do. The plastic wire insulation on each wire can also be heat damaged and if it cracks, can lead to internal harness shorts that you will never find without complete disassembly o f the harness.

I rebuild and repair the 914 D-Jet FI and ignition harnesses and have all the parts. The original style boots are NLA. Contact me off line if you want a rebuilt harness or a free estimate to repair yours.

I recently refurbished a 2.0 F.I. harness. If you want to do it yourself, contact me for details.
