help

I have a carburated 73 2.0 with some problems. It has been sitting for a while while I was at school (since about september). It ran fine when I left it, but I started it today and it is idling at very low rpms. When I gave it gas it would either stall out or the rpms would go up but very slowly. It seems like it has very little power. I couldn't get it up my parking ramps, it just didn't have any power. What do you guys think is the problem is?

I dunno, give it some fresh gas, check that the plugs are good, then check that they are all getting spark. Use some carb cleaner, if you live near salt water (like my PO who lived on the beach) the aluminium inside of the carb can corrode. A small blockage in the jets is all it takes.

Is it mis-firing real bad? Was it sitting where the rain/snow got to it? Is the rain tray there? Yes, then look at all the connections to the ignition, and to the dizzy. Unplug and replug all the connectors, including the spark plug wires.

If the "cheap fixes" don't work then you need more in depth trouble shooting. Look into draining out the gas and a new fuel filter MAYBE water got into the gas, or the gas is just dead. People have told me that the gas used in California goes bad quicker because of all the additives.
