1.7 logo: possibly the stupidest question

Possibly the stupidest question: Ive looked at dozens of 914 pics and for the life of me find a 914 with the 1.7 logo on the back. I have the 914 logo, but no 1.7, there are holes on the left side of the trunk button that are most likley for the logo. Are these holes for that logo? all 914's ive seen have 2.0 or 1.8 on the right of the 914 logo.... whats up?

hey i'm not an expert but in Dr Johnsons porsche restoration book i saw a picture of the 1.7 logo.it stated that the logo was to the right of the 914 script.the holes you see may be from a aftermarket upgrade of the porsche back marker.hope that helps.

The 70-72 either said 914 or 914/6.The 914/4 only had one motor so there was no reason for the 1.7 logo. In 73 there wasn't a 914/6 but they added the T-IV 2.0L along with the 1.7L. So that is the year the 1.7/2.0 logos started.

However, once again I'm without my books so this IS from memory.

Not being *****y, but who would want a "brag tag" for a 1.7? JP is right, the only stock 914 that had one was a 73. There is a reason that Automotion has discontinued them. I guess only a concourse weenie would really want one.

Hey, I have one my track car! It is much more fun to pass 911’s, 944’s, etc with a 1.7. It’s a psycho trick.
