vw Bus to 914 1.7 engine transfer
I'm putting a VW Bus 1.7 engine in a 914. Does anyone have thoughts about converting
the oil check dipstick to the rear of the engine. Is it best to drill a new dipstick hole in the enfine block or is there a modification that can be made to the existing dipstick that will make it accessible in the front of the 914 engine compartment? Naturally, I don't want to have to drill a new hole. Any thoughts or suggestions? |
get a dipstick and dipstick tube for a 914 engine and replace the ones for the bus engine with the ones for the 914 engine. no new holes. if i remember my vanagon engine, the dipstick tube mounted in the same place as a 914 engine but curled over the top of the engine to the access door and was "bolted" to the fan housing.
