Brake Lite problems

Hi Folks,

I have a 1975 2.0 that is in very nice condition. I just had a new clutch installed and the car tuned. I recently purchased the car and have lots of documentation dating all the way back to the first owner.

The passenger side brake light is not working properly. When I turn on the lights the passenger brake light is stuck on “brake” or the brighter light. It mush have been like this for some time as I can see some of the plastic is warping due to the high heat.

I looked at all the normal stuff, connectors, all new light bulbs, cleaned all the contacts etc… with no luck. As this is an electrical problem I am sure I am on my own to track it down but I though I would ask and see if someone has had a similar problem.

Thanks,
Brad

Brake light problem

Have you checked to see if the wiring is correct. I'm doing a restoration and somehow managed to screw it up. When I rechecked I found the problem.
Check Jeffs site....the guy is a lifesaver.

That looks just like my notes I took when i pulled my lights ....

Wedge the brake pedal down and turn the car to run then check the above list .. then check with the key off for ground faults ...

Electrically, the brake circuit comes from the switch behind the brake pedal to the left rear light. The connector at the light is jumpered to the right side. Pull the pedal board and check the switch. Otherwise it may be wired tothe license plate circuit.
