Some progress...
So...Upon further investigation...The cold start valve was unplugged. It looked like gallons of fuel in the box.Yuck...Anyways,It sounds a bit better after I ran it a bit and blew all that crap outta there. Its running at 29 lbs,so the reg I put on is working.Thats good.
Its becoming clearer..lol..The old reg was CRAnKED to 45 lbs, then while I was digging around down there,I must have knocked the wire off the cold start valve.I started it,saw the super high pressure and let it run while adjusting the reg.Fuel must have been dumping in the box through the valve. Now that the lead is plugged back in,the fuel pressure stays up,instead of dropping to zero over 5 seconds or so. So,now it runs a tad smoother, still pretty chuggy at low rpms..The car ran well(rich, but well) At 40+ lbs of fuel pressure before. So,is it possible some damage was done?It doesnt want to idle smoothly at all now. Also, now that this thing runs at the proper pressure now, what is my first step to making it right?I fiddled with the ecu know, and the air screw on the TB,small improvement.Turned the dist a shade CCW,small improvement. More advice please.SmileWavyhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1335840698.jpg Juicy stuff in box.Black,gassy,nasty.Why soo black and crappy looking? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1335840780.jpg The culprit? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1335840856.jpg The stuff in the box http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1335840912.jpg The stuff out of my pipes. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1335841167.jpg Steady Pressure |
Good find T,
I'm amazed how flaky the injector connectors are on these cars. No real posirive "click" like the newer Bosch plugs. Hey, where did you buy the gauge? SW |

The cold-start valve should only let fuel through when it has a ground on one pin and power on the other pin. When it is unplugged, it should be closed. You might want to re-check that.
I once had the wire to the TTS come adrift on my car; it would often (but not always!) short to the crankcase and the CSV would dump fuel while the starter was cranking. Made for difficult starts. You might want to check your oil; if it smells like gas change it. --DD |
