Gas Gauge/Sender??

hi, my gas gauge doesnt work, ive switched out the senders w/ that of 2 other cars, so..ive tried 3 different senders, none of them worked so i switched out the gauge w/ another gauge that i had, still nothing, it just sits there a little bit in front of empty..any ideas?? the tank is relatively full so i know the gauges are wrong saying its almost empty..please help me trace out this problem..thanx in advance, if it helps the car is a '72 1.7L carbed and soon to be turbo'ed

Get an ohm meter and check the continuity of the wiring.

Check out the tech article this site about rebuilding the sending unit in the tank. The unit is installed in the top of the tank and has three brass wires top to bottom that work as contacts and a rail for the float.
