how to know its a 2.0 engine
I would like to fine out how to determain the engine code for 2 .0 ,and where its located on the engine.... Thanks Frank
|
the codes are
1.7 l is W, EA, or EB Located near tranny mounting flange, passenger side on top of engine case. 1.8 l is EC, or AN Simular to 1.7 2.0 l is GA, or GB Located near oil filler, near fan housing on top of case. |
BUT, many, many engines are no longer what they started life as so the only way would be to measure it to absolutely sure.
|
GC code is also a 2.0 engine. Also in front of the oil filler.

2.0 engine codes
Is it true that 912e's have no engine codes on the case. I know mine doesn't and I have spoke with others who also advised no engine codes.....
|
IIRC, they have an engine code on the fan shroud. A GC code as well.

The more important thing is to see if it has 2.0 heads; the Porsche 914 2.0 heads are the only ones with 3 studs to fasten the intake manifolds to the head. If there is a single stud/nut on the flange between the intake tubes, then it has the Porsche heads. Likely the rest of the engine is 2.0 if the heads are.

yes, 3 bolt heads
