901 transmission

Hi All

Can I replace the 901 output flange seals with the
tranny in the car?

Once the axels are off what holds the output flanges in the tranny?

Yes, they can be replaced in the car. A special long bolt and washer hold the flange to the differential.

To minimize the oil loss, it is best to have only the rear jacked up, prefferably one side at a time. If you are replacing the seals, clean the old seal and use it as a special tool to help tap in the new seal.

Make sure you torque the stretch bolt to the right torque, no guessing allowed here.

Thanks Everyone,

Since putting sweepco in my box I am seeing a modest leak on the drivers side output flange. Possibly it was there before but it is easy to see in blue. Also the box was more or less topped up when I went to change the lube oil. I will try changing the seal and see how it goes.

best Mark
