Which case to use for my new engine?
I am finally ready to get started on my 1.9 engine (baby steps for power) using a stock 1.7/1.8 stroke with 1.8 heads (unmodified) and 96mm p&cs. I got the 1.8 engine from my 75 parts car and I have a 73 1.7 in my driver now. My question is, does it make any difference which case I use as the basis for my engine rebuild? I want to use my stock 1.7 FI and the 1.7 runs well now with no knocks or oil consumption. The 1.8 is an unknown although I am going to tear it down completely to evaluate the its condition. Any recommendations?

any stock displacement can be built on any case or big bore kit for that matter
but why not use the stock case for the car and use a 2 l crank and rods and get you self some biral cylinders, bump the comprsion to about 8:1 or so and do 100 hp or more baby steps are for hondas ... 10 hp here, 5 here 15 there and before long you will have 250 hp out of a 2.2 liter. just claim the exact hp you gain from each part and add up ie "this intake gives 20 hp " etc |
