Experience with B&B headers for 914-6
Anyone have personal experience with the B&B stainless headers with heat for the 914-6.
Would like to hear your comments as to fit, finish, etc. If you don't want to comment publicly just pm me... Thanks... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1348862338.jpg |
I know people who have used them. The fit is not that great, even after some judicious tweaking. PK worked on them for a while on one conversion, and even then the muffler did not sit evenly left to right. He told me that he would only use headers from then on, no more aftermarket heat exchangers.

I'll let you know when I install the set that I have.

I bought the ss headers with heat for my 76 3.2 conversion. Bad move. The heater boxes were not sealed at the pipes, forget decent flow into the cabin. The boxes also block access to header bolts. On my particular set, one muffler flange was rotated, had to slot one of the holes to get anything to fit.
For $1800, one would expect a LOT more. I bought in ~2005, *maybe* they're better, now, but buyer beware... |
Thanks for the info John....I was wondering if the heater boxes were any good...

They're shiny. :)
I've worked with one set on a customer's car. I can't speak to the amount of heat output, but I didn't care for the poor alignment of the hose fittings on the crudely designed heaterboxes which made connection to the car rather difficult. The flanges at the rear were poorly aligned. They didn't seal well, & the height of the two flanges was different. |
Thanks Chris....I apppreciate the real world experience info with these

I talked to a guy that was running them with a 3.6 at the last G&R. He said he had similar fitment issues. He had to mount everything loosely and then tighten everything up. As far as heat goes he said its better than no heat. He said its probably half the heat of the stock heat exchamgers.

Thanks Steve...really helps to get real world info
