'75 head on '73 2.0 914

My '73 2.0 engine needs a head, I can get a '75 2.0 head for a decent price. Will the later model head work properly on my '73 engine? Any modifications needed? Am I correct that the later head uses an air injection system not found on the earlier model and will it affect functioning if air injection is not used?
Any info will be appreciated
Bill

I wouldn't replace just one head, you would want a pair.
You can plug the air injection holes in the later heads with 10 mm size valve adusting screws. Use the valve train from your old heads that have the earlier 8 mm adjusting screws. You will have to have the later heads or valve covers modified for head vents.
Good luck at it.
