73 2.0 Paint Removal - From Wheels
I recently obtained a 73 2.0. The previous owner painted the aluminum wheels (partially) black to make them look like a Fuchs appearance package wheel. The original wheels had no paint - and are all aluminum. Other than having them media blasted to remove the paint and turn them back to original, does anyone know of a simpler method (product?) to remove the paint? Thanks everyone!

paint stripper can work, but make sure it is an aluminium /aluminum anodize safe product.(avoid harsh acids or bases). If the wheel has a clear coat, I'd expect it would be removed by the stripper also. This would be prefered to traditional (hard media) blasting unless the entire wheel surface is intended to be refinished. There are some non-traditional blasting processes that use soft enough media to remove paints, yet not harm the aluminum / anidozed surface. Aluminum left bare with no anodizing nor paint will corrode easy and turn dual and potentially spotty.
