First pic of the Martini 914
Hi All -
I have yet to be able to scan the good/detailed pics of the Martini car, but I got a down and dirty from a pal with a digital camera. Here you go...

Wow! I was beginning to think that this car really didn't exist. And, Scott was just delusional.
Very nice Scott! I can't wait to see more. |

Now THAT looks sweeet!
Is that a through hood filler I see? Great job Scott, I bet it turns heads everywhere.

Paul - yep, it's real. I would, however, never argue with the fact that I'm delusional!!!
Dave - yep, a-la GT. It does get it's share of looks. I have been pulled over 3 times this summer - none of them for speeding. No tickets thankfully. I had to get a lighted license plate frame to appease the local authority, as the plate is in the back window and hard to see at night (there is a euro plate in the stock location) My favorite parts of the car can't be seen in this view. It has the GT (BMW 2002) number light on the passenger door, and the rear trunk striping/lettering came out pretty neat as well. I located yellow bulbs for the H-4 and French import plates (red with silver letters). Most importantly (knock on wood) it's been running pretty great this season. Scott S

Scott,
That is one of the best-looking modern GTs I've seen. Now I may have missed something here, but what are the specs? Is this a GT replica, an original, a six or a four, etc? Also, I'm curious to know what direction you went with the flares - steel or fiber? Is this going together for a racer (Club or otherwise) or is this the ultimate daily driver? If you can't tell, I've just started putting together a GT replica also, though with numerous variations, and its exciting to see more of these. I'd be a willing ear to hear all the details. Regards,

I built the car to participate in DE events and the ocassional auto cross. But do to time constraints I rarely drive the car (6000 miles in 7 years). In Colorado, summer is when 99% of these events take place. I am a very active musician and travel a great deal during the late spring to early fall.

Scott
I think we need to ban you from posting on this board untill you get your detail pics done. ![]() I'm still loving the Martini look. Maybe I need to rethink my yellow paint with gumballs and do a recognizable race scheme. Hmmm, I wonder how the Brumos red, white and blue would look?

I thought about the Brumos colors too - VERY cool.
As far as my taste in the outward appearance, basically if it ties to ANY of the historical Porsche color schemes (factory or independent) it's my opinion you can never go wrong. I am also a huge fan of the stock cars (that dk green steel wheeled 914-6 that shows up on the list once in a while is one of my absolute favorite cars ever). If the PO of my car had not put on the 916 bumpers (and blended them into the body), I would have gone the same route as you - with the addition of the nice and "ugly" two color GT bumpers. The only cars that are not my style are those with the really wild body kits and wings - unless you show me a crazy engineered/built sheridan bodied race car!

I'm a big fan of the Gulf paint job that patrick motorsports put on one of their 914s.
![]() Then again it looks really cool on the 911 too: Gulf 911
