stuck rear caliper

I am not sure if my rear calipers are stuck or not. I am trying to spread them to put new pads in, and the inside one won't move out. If I step on the brakes they move in and my parking brake works great, but they will only go back to where they started when I took the pads out. Is there anything that I have to do before I try to push the pistons back out? The front calipers were happy to accept new pads. Any ideas?

I am using a big screw driver to try to lever them back. Is there a better way?

As always thanks for the help.

You need to back off the screws that set the venting clearance. Details here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/914_brake_pads/914_brake_pads.htm

Porsche Crest Can't be done that way

To retract the pads on the rear calipers you need to use the venting adjustment screws. If you apply gentle pressure to the pad while rotating the inner adjuster (I believe clockwise) the pad should begin to retract.

The back of the piston has a worm screw that has teeth. The teeth mesh with the adjuster screw. By rotating the adjuster, the worm screw drives in and out of the back of the piston, pushing the piston in or out. When you push on the piston from the outside, the end of the worm screw bottoms out inside the caliper and won't allow the piston to travel any further. Simply put... it can't be done that way.
