Engine info? #6420233 914/6
Long story guys... abbreviated...
I bought an engine for my early 911... it turns out from a schiester who has screwed me.... The long block I've ended up with it turns out to be I believe a 914/6 engine with the vin # 6420233. So, I get that it is a 1972, and I was assuming it was a 2.4 liter 911 engine, but I don't know what porsche was producing for the 914/6 line. Did they pull them off the 911 line, and use the same series engines? Thanks guys for your time. Tim |

IIRC they used the 2.0L flat six out of the B-series T-cars. 110 HP is what I remember.

Porsche did use a couple of 2.4 engines but they were in the rare 916. Yours is a 2.0 liter.

If you are not planning on using that engine, I would post it for sale on 914World.com, 914Club.com, RoadGlue.com, etc. There is a chance the owner of that '72 914-6 might be looking for his original engine as I am for my '71 914-6.

on the lower side of the cases there is a casting part number, that would help to identify it its a 2.2-2.4

check the numbers on the P&Cs...that will give a clue as to whether it was "bored/stroked" to 2.2 or 2.4
